Metal Coffee Table Legs

Metal legs on a coffee table don’t need to be replaced often.  Metal does not crack or splinter like wood   and is unlikely to become unusable in an unexpected flood.

However, there are several reasons why people look for metal   coffee table legs.  They can be   handyman who build their own furniture.    You may want to replace the legs of a table so that it sits higher or   lower on the floor.  Or you want to   replace the existing metal or wood legs of the table with legs that match a   new decor.

There is an amazingly wide range of metal coffee table legs on the   market that are suitable for all of these purposes.  The right legs for a table depend on the   required size, height, thickness and load capacity, mainly depending on the   size and type of table top to be supported.    An even more important consideration, however, is whether the legs   will match the tabletop and the rest of the room design.

Coffee table legs are made from many different metals, including   steel, iron, and aluminum.  They are   available in various metal finishes such as polished chrome, brushed aluminum   and matte nickel.  Needless to say, a   material like aluminum is usually much cheaper than wrought iron.  The latter is perfect for an antique   feel.

The most popular choice for lighter coffee tables is a set of   relatively thin metal hairpin pins that are rounded at the bottom and wide at   the top.  These legs usually have an   “L” bracket that can be screwed into a wooden or metal framed   table, or used as a support for glass.    Similar, but more substantial, bracket-shaped, tapered industrial   metal legs can support a heavier table top.    Any of these options go well with a mid-century modern   decor.

More modern coffee table legs made of metal with wide bases are   available in the versions A-frame, H-frame, railroad trestle, X-style or   geometric.  Most have nifty metal   finishes, but some come in designer colors too.  For a state-of-the-art look and ease of   assembly, there are even “Floyd” legs, made in a variety of   traditional and pastel colors, that clip neatly onto virtually any type of   tabletop (except glass or tile).

The most common heights for metal coffee table legs are 14   “and 16”, although you can find them as short as 8 “or as high   as 28”.  Most vendors sell them in   packages of two, four, or eight.
