Pros and cons of kitchen flooring
materials

Choosing   the type of flooring for any particular room in your home is always a task   which requires great consideration. Materials which may work for many other   rooms in your home may or may not work for use in your kitchen. The reason is   that each room in your home has a definite function and should also have its   own character. Materials that you use for your living room floor may not be   practical at all for the bedroom or kitchen. We will examine some of the most   used flooring materials here and see if they are practical for use as kitchen   flooring.

Carpet for Kitchen   Floor:

Carpet is a consideration for flooring and is very popular in the   United States and the rest of the world. When it comes to kitchen floors   carpet is probably not the most practical material to use. The kitchen is a   very high trafficked area in the home and probably is the area that can be   the messiest. Carpet won’t be a good choice because it will absorb the spills   that are so common to the kitchen. I like to cook myself and I know that I   spill something each time that I do. Also if you use the kitchen as a dining   area food crumbs, liquids, and sauces will be spilled often. Carpet will have   to be shampooed very often if you use it in your kitchen which will greatly   reduce its life expectancy.

Laminate for Kitchen Floor:

Laminate is probably used most as a covering for kitchen floors   because of its low cost and overall practicality as a flooring material.   Laminate is not as durable as some of the other flooring materials but it is   relatively inexpensive and very easy to maintain. The laminate most often has   a protective covering bonded to it which helps to make it stain and dirt   resistant. The only real drawback to using laminate for your kitchen floor is   that when the covering has been worn through in one place the entire floor   will have to be replaced. Spilled materials can be very easily mopped or   swept off the surface of the laminate which makes it a better   choice.

Regular tile for Kitchen   floor:

Regular tile is another very good material to use for your kitchen   floor. It is also very durable and easy to maintain. One problem that you   might possibly encounter with tile is that it can be broken or chipped if you   drop something on it. If you spill water or another liquid on this floor you   will want to mop or wipe it up before it soaks into the tile and causes   discoloration.
