On the way home, I kept thinking about it. At just four years old, my daughter didn’t respond with anger or shame—she simply set a boundary, in her own small way. She reminded me that joy doesn’t always need permission, and sometimes the pure honesty of a child can cut through bitterness better than anything else.We worry so much about teaching children manners, structure, and rules. But maybe, just maybe, they’re here to remind us about courage, joy, and truth—the things we forget too easily as adults.
