End of an Era: Gina Maria’s Pizza Closes, But a Piece Lives On

Posted on May 3, 2026 By admin

For many families across Minnetonka and Eden Prairie, Gina Maria’s Pizza was more than just a place to eat—it was part of everyday life. Its familiar red-and-white boxes showed up at birthday parties, weeknight dinners, and quiet evenings at home. Over time, it became a reliable presence, offering not just food but a sense of comfort and routine.

That’s why its sudden closure came as such a surprise. Without a final announcement or farewell, the doors closed quietly, followed by news of financial trouble. Reports indicated the business owed millions in debt, leading to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing. This means the company will not reopen, and its remaining assets will be sold to repay creditors, marking a definitive end to a long-standing local favorite.

For loyal customers, the loss goes beyond a restaurant—it’s the disappearance of a shared tradition. Places like this often become woven into the rhythm of daily life, making their absence feel personal. The memories, however, remain: familiar flavors, family gatherings, and moments that turned a simple meal into something meaningful.

There is, however, a small continuation of that legacy. In Eden Prairie, a new spot called Pizzas Gina has opened in the former location. Led by a new owner, it carries forward elements of the original recipes, offering a sense of familiarity for those who return. While it’s not the same, it keeps a piece of the story alive for the community.
