The History
Sectional Sofa Beds started in Victorian times and it was made by pushing together two sofas so that the couch could be lengthened. In the 1950s de to the popularity of minimalistic styles as well as bold geometric shapes, furniture started to be made which did not need separate pieces of furniture. Sectional sofa beds are normally with three back and seat cushions and have two arms or no arm or even one arm in each the left arm facing and right arm facing configuration. There are varied styles which have rolled arms, bun feet or reclining seats with chaise style footrest or double padded seat cushions
The Need
People find them convenient when unexpected guests or more number of guests than can be accommodated stay over. They also are used when the style of the living room is such that single pieces either do not match or are not in line with the rest of the décor.
