A frustrated wife often complained that her husband spent far too much time at the tavern, imagining he was off enjoying himself every evening. One night, he decided to bring her along so she could see it for herself.
When they sat down, he asked what she’d like to drink. Unsure, she told him to order the same thing he usually had. He took his drink and finished it quickly, just as he always did. Curious, she took a small sip from her glass.
Almost instantly, she pulled back in shock. “That’s awful!” she said, clearly surprised. “I don’t understand how you can drink that!”
Her husband gave a small shrug and replied, “Exactly. And you think I’m out here having the time of my life every night.”
Sometimes, what we imagine from the outside doesn’t match reality—and a little firsthand experience can change the whole perspective.
