In some cases, minor nutritional gaps, changes in circulation, or hormonal shifts may also influence nail texture, though these effects are usually mild.

Regularly moisturizing your nails and cuticles, wearing gloves during household chores, and filing nails gently can reduce splitting and improve appearance. Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet also support nail growth from within. While sudden or unusual changes should be checked by a professional, most vertical ridges are harmless—a quiet, natural reflection of the body’s aging process.
