A rock garden is commonly known as the alpine garden or rock garden. It is a kind of small garden or field where rocks or rocks are used on some plants to create an alpine or rocky environment. Occasionally boulders with stones and rocks are also used.

The stones are oriented so that the plants and litter are often used to hide the joints between the stones. Such alpine gardens were well known in Victorian times. They were usually designed and built by skilled professional landscape architects and a team of gardeners.
