I believed my marriage was built on trust, but everything changed one weekend when I came home earlier than expected from visiting my sister. The strong smell of bleach guided me to the basement, where I found my husband, Tom, anxiously scrubbing a large, dark mark on the floor. He jumped when he saw me and quickly claimed it was nothing more than spilled wine. Her kindness eased my doubts, but I reminded Tom that trust is fragile and honesty is non-negotiable in a marriage. He promised there would be no more secrets between us.
