Remembering Blake Garrett: A Life Marked by Talent, Growth, and Resilience

Posted on April 7, 2026 By admin

The passing of Blake Garrett at the age of 33 has left fans and loved ones in shock. Best known for his role in the 2006 family film How to Eat Fried Worms, he died on February 8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His mother confirmed the news, noting that the family is still awaiting official autopsy results. The sudden nature of his death has made the loss especially difficult for those who remember both his early success and his personal journey in later years.

Born in Austin, Texas, Garrett showed an early passion for performing. As a child, he appeared in local theater productions including Aladdin, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and Grease. By the age of 10, he had already reached a major milestone, touring nationally with Barney’s Colorful World. That experience helped open doors in the entertainment industry, setting the stage for his transition into film and television.

His most recognizable work came with How to Eat Fried Worms, where he played the character Plug in a performance that contributed to the cast earning a Young Artist Award. While his early career brought him into the spotlight, his later years reflected a quieter, more personal path. Living in Oklahoma, he focused on rebuilding his life, with a strong commitment to sobriety—something his family described as a source of pride and daily dedication.

In the days before his passing, Garrett had reportedly sought medical attention for severe pain and was diagnosed with shingles. His mother has suggested that complications may have been a factor, though confirmation is still pending. Beyond his work on screen, he is remembered for his determination, his efforts to move forward, and the joy he brought to audiences during his time in the public eye.
