In the days that followed, there was a noticeable shift in our dynamic. My daughter-in-law arranged for part-time childcare, and my son began using his lunch breaks to check in at home more often.

They even planned a weekend outing for themselves, something they hadn’t done in months.

As for me, I embraced my new boundaries and found joy in the moments I chose to be with the twins.

I started painting again, explored new hobbies, and even joined a book club. When I did babysit, it was because I wanted to, not because I felt obligated. The time I spent with my grandchildren felt more precious and fulfilling.
